Farming.

It began with a dream. Steward and I were married in 2007 on his parent’s grain farm, in their big, red, beautiful bank barn. We “rode off into the sunset” in their pretty John Deere 4640 tractor.

I didn’t grow up on a farm, though my grandparents had a cattle farm just around the corner that we visited frequently. I grew up in the country, but never really dreamed of being a farmer someday. Growing up, Steward gained a lot of experience helping his Dad with everything on his grain farm to helping local farmer friends bale hay while he was a teenager, or helping farmers haul grain to the local co-op. It was the farm that we got married at that truly sparked our dream of having our own farm. Dreams don’t happen overnight though, and, well, we’re kind of impatient. Over the years, we visited many farms that were for sale, only to be disappointed & frustrated. It was either too much money. A bad location. Really bad timing. Terrible soil erosion problems. Or it just didn’t seem right. We kind of gave up on our dream.

Fast forward through the ups and downs of life, with now 3 beautiful daughters, and pretty much giving up on ever having a farm of our own. In early 2020 we found our farm. Now, you’ll find us living out our dream of owning a farm in the rolling hills of Mount Vernon, Ohio. And hey, we even have our own pretty John Deere tractor (pictured).
